KE Krishna Murthy: Expedite construction of houses for poor

Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy accompanied with in-charge Minister Kalava Srinivasulu on Thursday conducted a reviewed meeting on Indiramma and NTR Housing schemes and crop damage occurred due to recent rains in the district at the Collector’sConference Hall.

Addressing the review meeting, Krishna Murthy directed the officials concerned to expedite the houses sanctioned to downtrodden. To construct model houses, he said the district has been categorised as Kurnool, Adoni, Yemmignoor and Nandyal municipalities and directed the officials to upload the status through online.

He suggested the officials to hold meeting with the bankers for sanction of loans to beneficiaries.  He assured the farmers that the government will help them on all aspects and said them not to dishearten. Krishna Murthy directed the officialsto make necessary arrangements to transport onion produce to Hyderabad and Vijayawada  from the district.

In-charge Minister Kalava Srinivasulu said the government was working out modalities to construct 10 lakh houses by 2019. So far around 1.34 lakhs houses have been constructed under various schemes in the district.

He said that the government has also planned to construct houses to people living in urban areas. Houses for 10,000 beneficiaries have been planned to construct under Kurnool Municipal Corporation limits but only 3,800 beneficiaries have paid the amount. He directed the officials concerned to make sure that the beneficiaries enter their own houses by Sankranti festival next year.

Crops planted in an extent of 57,012 hectares have been damaged due to the recent rains in the district and the primary loss is estimated to be at Rs8.30 crore, said Collector S Sathya Narayana.  

Horticulture crops planted in an extent of 1,758.92 hectares in 33 mandals were completely damaged. Bringing to notice of Ministers, Sathya Narayana said that a proposal estimating Rs295 crore and Rs142.68 crore have been sent to the government for damaged and battered roads.MLAs SV Mohan Reddy, Mani Gandhi, Bhuma Bhramananda Reddy, KUDA Chairman Somi Shetty Venkateshwarulu, Municipal Commissioners, Agriculture department Joint Director, Titco Superintending Engineer, Housing Project Director, Zillah Parishad Chief Executive Officer and other department officials were also present.
