Amar Akbar Anthony Movie Review

Release date : November 16, 2018
Starring : Ravi Teja, Ileana D’Cruz
Director : Srinu Vailta
Producer : Naveen Yerneni
Music Director : S. Thaman
Rating : 2/5

Amar Akbar Antony is one film which needs to click at any cost as Sreenu Vaitla has been only giving back to back flops in the recent past. The film has finally hit the screens today and let’s see whether it lives up to all the expectations or not.

Story:

Amar(Ravi Teja) and Pooja’s(Ileana) parents are two best friends who are cheated by their business partners. They get killed in a bomb blast and leave Amar and Pooja homeless. Rest of the story is as to how Amar and Pooja grow up in life and take revenge on their parents murderers.

Performances:

Raviteja appears more handsome in 'Amar Akbar Anthony' and looks good in all the three avatars. He, however, appears clueless in many scenes and the energy for which he is known for goes missing. The role designed based on the Split-Personality Disorder didn't seem to be convincing at all.

Ileana performed really well in her comeback flick. Though she is sexy in most of the scenes, Looked quite odd at times due to the oodles of weight gained by her.

None of the four villains left a strong impact due to poor characterizations. As FBI Officer, Abhimanyu Singh overacts like never before. Comedy Tracks of Satya, Vennela Kishore and Sunil are decent at best.

Plus Points:

Cinematography
Production Values

Minus Points:

Screenplay
Direction
Forced Comedy

Technical Aspects:

Music by Thaman is very disappointing as not one song clicks but his background score was neat. Production values by Mythri Movies is top notch as they have spent a lot to make the film look rich. Production design was neat and so were the lyrics. Dialogues were funny in many areas and especially those written for Sunil and Vennela Kishore were good.

Coming to the director Sreenu Vaitla, he has got things wrong in a big way. Right from Aagadu, his comic sense and grip on the script have gone for a toss as he has been narrating his stories in a disappointing manner. Same is the case this film as well as Vaitla has made things go haywire after the first ten minutes. What he generates is irritation in the name of entertainment.

Verdict:

On the whole Amar Akbar Anthony is yet another disappointment from the hands of Sreenu Vaitla. The star director gets it all wrong as the film is a logicless revenge drama which falls flat in many ways. There are a few comic moments which might click with the mass audience but on the whole, this film fails to reach the expectations completely and has nothing great to boast about.
