It looks like after Iru Mugan’s success, the actor-director duo Anand Shankar and Chiyaan Vikram are coming together for the remake of the English horror thriller film Don’t Breathe. Starring Stephen Lang and directed by Fede Alvarez of Evil Dead fame, the September release opened to positive reviews all over and had been rocking the US box office before it released in India. It’s about three teenagers who planned to rob the house of a blind man and it ended up being their worst decision ever. There are no obvious ghosts in sights, but it still has hair-raising elements that will scare you just as much. But there have been no confirmations. Also it depends on various factors, one of them being the price of the Hollywood remake rights.
Chiyaan Vikram’s latest release Iru Mugan had the actor play the hero – Akhilan and the villain – Love. This was the first time Vikram was having a face off with himself. One of the biggest highlights was Vikram’s suave baddie avatar who was also allegedly gay. The movie also starred Nayanthara and Nithya Menen. The trailer had created a huge buzz around the movie, but on the day of its release, the movie opened to mixed reviews with an average first day collection.
As it released around Onam, the four day weekend brought about a huge spike in the collections. Despite mixed reviews, the movie went on to become one of Vikram’s biggest hits. The sci-fi actioner nearly reached Rs 100 crore mark but didn’t end up making it through. Vikram is currently working on Saamy 2 with Harish. From what reports state, Rakul Preet Singh has been finalized as the female lead but there have been no official confirmations.
Anyway, we are hoping the Don’t Breathe remake will come through. So we are assuming, if it does Vikram will be playing Stephen Lang’s character. Now that will be something to look forward to. We are eagerly awaiting a confirmation on the same. So do you think Vikram will be able to pull off Stephen Lang’s blind character? Tell us in the comment box below. Also, stay tuned for further updates on the remake of Don’t Breathe.
