National award winning Tamil actor Dhanush refuted the ongoing rumors that he is against Jallikattu, the traditional and controversial bull taming sport in Tamil Nadu. Dhanush took to Twitter to express his views about the sport.
The actor tweeted, 'Happy maattu Pongal. Also, I never made any comments regarding Jallikattu. I support Jallikattu. The news that's going on is a rumour. Thank you." Dhanush also clarified that he is not associated with PETA, an animal rights organisation which has been fighting against Jallikattu.
'I'm not a brand ambassador of Peta. I was only awarded by them once for being a vegetarian,' he tweeted. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court declined to permit Jallikattu, a centuries old traditional Pongal sport in which a bull vaulter clings on to the bull's hump for a minimum of three jumps made by the bull out for a stipulated distance. Many youths die or get severely injured in this deadly sport.
