Who is the number one hero in Tollywood? This is a million dollar question now. Megastar Chiranjeevi used to be number one hero in Telugu before he entered politics. Though he was away from films for nearly a decade no other hero could occupy his chair with authority. Heroes like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu delivered blockbusters but they are not consistent at the box office like Chiru. As Chiru made re-entry into the films, the topic of number one hero sidelined.
Surprisingly Mega family members are mentioning Pawan Kalyan to be the number one hero recently. It is known that Naga Babu said that his younger brother is the number one hero while speaking in the press meet. On the other hand, Allu Arjun also referred Pawan Kalyan as number one while speaking at the 'Naa Peru Surya' audio event.
In the case of Chiru, everybody accepted his position as number one and he consistently performed at the box office. But the situation of Pawan is completely different. If we consider his past 15 years track record his scored single industry hit 'Attarintiki Daaredi'. Mahesh Babu gives tough competition to Pawan in terms of remuneration and blockbusters. He also scored an industry hit with Srimanthudu.
Though everybody keeps aside Baahubali franchise as special films, Prabhas also gives tough competition to Pawan. If we include Baahubali films no other hero can go near to Prabahs in terms of remuneration, market reach and nationwide following. In fact, Pawan Mahesh Babu films have the pre-release business market of Rs.150 crores now..but Prabhas has double the market than both these heroes. It is known that Saaho Hindi theatrical rights were sold for Rs.120 crores. If we include other rights you can imagine the total business. But still, no one is accepting Prabahs as number one hero because he has to prove his consistency coming out of Baahubali films.
In such a scenario, many people are questioning how Pawan became a number one hero? He is not number one hero for even Mega family because Chiranjeevi is still doing films! So, referring him as number one hero is an exaggeration.
