As reported by us earlier, Kerala is facing one of the worst calamity in years that has been causing lives and proprietorial damages in the whole state. We had reported about how Tamil Nadu has risen up to the occasion at this time of distress, through donations and relief material. Since the condition has only gotten worse over the days, with the death toll increasing to 87, stranded people count adding to 75,000, the whole nation is being urged to come forward to help.
Actor Karthi informed through his twitter page that he met Kerala's CM Pinarayi Vijayan and their need of the hour is donations through the CM's Distress Relief Fund rather than relief materials and hence he has appealed for the same.
Kerala's rains and floods have been the heaviest since 1924 and has caused damages upto Rs. 8,316 crore in the state. The Central government has launched a huge relief and rescue operation with the Army, Navy, Indian Air Force, the Coast Guard and the National Disaster Response Force being deployed in full-swing.
