With over 3,22,000 followers on her verified Instagram account and several fan clubs, Pooja Bedi's daughter Aalia Furniturewalla is already quite the celebrity. Rumours have been doing the rounds that she will follow the footsteps of fellow star kids like Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor and enter Bollywood.
In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Pooja Bedi confirmed that Aalia is gearing up for her big screen debut. "She has done one year film direction course in New York University.
She has done one-year acting course in New York Film Academy. She is currently back in India doing extensive training for Bollywood, busy attending acting, Kathak, contemporary, and singing classes. She is getting loads of offers but I want her to focus on her preparation. Next year, we will launch her," Pooja told the publication.
Aalia is known for her bold photos on Instagram, and that brings with it its share of trolls. "In India, people have narrow-minded views about nudity and boldness. It's a problem that lies with people, not us," Pooja said.
Last year, Aalia hit out at trolls for sexualising her. "I even read someone saying: 'Oh! She is not Bollywood ready, she is porn ready.' I was like, 'Oh! Just because I wear a bikini, which is what everyone does anyway, how is it that it makes me porn ready and not Bollywood ready? Do you not see Bollywood movies or people wearing bikinis on beaches? All these beautiful, and successful actresses wear bikinis and even short dresses," she said in an interview.
Aalia had also written a powerful blog about getting called nasty names for posting bold photos. "If my cleavage is visible, it does not mean I am giving consent, it does not mean I am 'asking for it.' I am more than my breasts and it is unfair to let them define me," she had written.
