While the magnum opus – Baahubali 2 crossed the unimaginable Rs 1000 crore mark in 9 days, fans must know that the movie has suffered huge losses, courtesy Piracy. As per reports on Indian Express, actor Vishal, the President of Tamil Film Producers’ Council put forth a complaint against Tamil Rockers, a known piracy website for making available pirated copies of the historical drama on several sites. The producers’ council met city Police Commissioner Karan Singha to make sure, those involved in this piracy act ( Tamil rockers) were taken action against. The statement further claims, because of this, the movie has suffered a ‘humongous loss’. They have asked the police to take down these pirated versions immediately and also book the criminals in question. As per the complaint, Baahubali 2 was available for illegal download and that they had received a complaint from the producers of the film as well.
“We met the police commissioner on our complaint seeking action against piracy of Baahubali 2,” stated Vishal as per reports on IE. Films in Tamil Nadu are also facing Cable TV piracy because which there are no takers for the satellite rights of at least 300 films. This issue was also brought to the forefront of the police officials.
When the film released on 28th April, the movie was leaked online on the same day. But to think, even these illegal activities did not stop the movie from becoming one of the biggest hits. Within 9 days, the movie created history as it came the first movie to enter the Rs 1000 crore club. The baahubali team overwhelmed with the response thanked their fans for their support and love.
