MUMBAI: Sohail Khan’s ‘Mental’, starring his brother Salman Khan has lost a whopping Rs 25 crore and 12 days of crucial shooting time, over the tussle between the workers hired for action sequences.
As reported earlier, Southern workers hired for the action scenes walked off in a huff, over alleged favouritism towards their Bollywood counterparts, who they alleged were being paid more wages.
The imbroglio has not boded well for the film’s makers, who have reportedly sustained losses to the tune of Rs 25 crore in 12 days!
Sohail has lodged a complaint with the Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers (AMPTPP). President of AMPTPP, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala confirmed the news, and added that the association would “look into the matter.”
An inside source further revealed: “The duo (Salman and Sohail) had no option but to take help from senior people within the fraternity. The big set in Lavasa has not been dismantled yet. Every single day since the south action artistes left, the makers have been incurring losses to the tune of Rs 20 lakh. The losses are only going to mount with no solution in sight.”
Salman and Sohail, having filed the complaint, have now returned to Mumbai along with the rest of the crew, as they couldn’t complete the shoot.
“The unit had to return within a week even though it was a 15-day schedule in Kolhapur because the fighters refused to shoot. There was another schedule in Lavasa, which was a continuity sequence from a Dubai shoot that needed the same fighters. There too, the Film Employees’ Federation of South India (FEFSI) refused to send their stuntmen,” adds a source.
