Aamir Khan and Zaira Wasim‘s Secret Superstar might have registered a slow start on day one at the box office, but looks like it has recovered very well. On day 1, the film had raked in a below par collection of Rs 4.80 crore. However, Secret Superstar saw a huge upward trend on day 2, as it raked in an estimated amount of Rs 9 crore at the domestic box office. This takes its overall tally to Rs 13.80 crore (estimated) at the ticket window.
All this was possible courtesy the holiday period and the fantastic word of mouth publicity that the movie received. It’s a known fact that the day after Diwali (i.e. yesterday, October 20) is the biggest day for any film. This paired with great reviews from the critics as well as the movie going audience gave a huge boost to Secret Superstar. And thus it enabled the film’s collections to see a near 100 per cent growth. With the weekend just starting and the buzz around the film growing, we expect the upward trend to continue, helping Secret Superstar end the extended weekend on a high. While we had initially expected the film to rake in Rs 40 crore in the opening weekend, we guess it might end up with a slightly lower collection, somewhere in between Rs 25 – 35 crore.
