Vishwaroopam 2, a sequel to Vishwaroopam, starring Kamal Haasan, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Waheeda Rahman, Shekhar Kapur, Rahul Bose, has hit the theaters today on 10th August 2018. Directed by Kamal Haasan, Vishwaroopam 2 solves the puzzles, the first installment left us with in 2013. Let’s see the storyline:

Story: Vishwaroopam 2 starts where the first one ended. The film continues the story of Soldier- turned-spy Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri (Kamal Hassan) and his crusade against Al Qaeda terrorist Omar (Rahul Bose). Wisam, Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) and Ashmita Subramaniam  (Andrea Jeremiah) along with intelligence bosses go to London where they are attacked by the Omar gang. Later Wisam and Nirupama come to Delhi to meet  higher officials. Terrorist gang head Omar (Rahul Bose) kidnaps Niurpama. Wisam goes to the terrorist spot to rescue her. How will Wisam save Nirupama? How will Wisam detect the bombs, which are placed at various places in Delhi and kills Omar? To get these answers one should watch the movie on silver screen.

Plus Points:

Kamal Haasan
Pooja Kumar
Andrea Jeremiah
Minus Points:

Poor dialogues
Slow Narration
Performance:  Kamal Haasan as patriotic RAW agent delivers his fantastic performance. He has performed action sequence himself without dupe. The emotional sequence between Wisam (Kamal Haasan) and his mother (played by Waheeda Rahman) is highlighted. Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah have good roles and both the actresses perform really well. The supporting cast is almost non-existent and not worthy of a mention except for Shekhar Kapur. Shekhar Kapoor as Kamal Haasan’s boss is good. Jaideep Ahlawat performed well in the role of Salim. Though he got limited screen space but did the job very well. Waheeda Rahman as an elderly woman struggling with Alzheimer’s disease, has justified with her role.

Technical:  Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2, has unique storyline. The combat scenes, the stunts and the props all look like they belong to a big-ticket Hollywood movie.  There are several flashbacks that go back, to the first film’s premise of Rahul Bose as the terrorist leader in Afghanistan. Though the scenes are good but it doesn’t add any weight to the story. The cinematography work is fantastic. Production values are top notch.

Analysis: The first half of Vishwaroopam 2 is a drag with minimum stunts. However, the second half have few action sequences which instilled the interest. Though Vishwaroopam 2 has everything which are required for a perfect masala movie like a titular character Wisam (Kamal Haasan), two actresses, badass villain, action sequence and VFX but finally Vishwaroopam 2 became fail to manage all these aspects. Overall Vishwaroopam 2 fails to thrill, excite or even leave the viewers curious.
