Akshay Kumar‘s latest film, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha has hit the silver screens and as was expected, has taken a good start at the box office on its opening day, as it collected Rs 13.10 crore. The film has done fairly well, especially after an average opening. The positive for the Akshay Kumar starrer is the fact that despite receiving mixed to positive reviews by critics, movie watching audience has been in awe of the film and the superstar that is, Akshay Kumar. And considering it’s a content film, targeted towards the family audience, it’s bound to have a glorious run at the box office for the weekend.
Trade expert Akshaye Rathi had told us, “He (Akshay Kumar) is the smartest producer and the most astute business man in the country. He makes movies at such right budget that they sail. I think it will easily earn Rs 11 -12 crore on the first day and the opening weekend will be somewhere around Rs 40-45 crore.”
“Toilet Ek Prem Katha is too long and preachy. Despite standout performances by Akshay and Bhumi the film fails to engage or connect with you largely because of its snail paced tempo and long Sunday school styled monologues.”
Looks like Akshay Kumar will bail out Bollywood from its gloomy days and will give it a bonafide it’s craving for, since the debacle of Salman Khan’s Tubelight.
