Filmmakers are finding innovative ways in which to promote their movies. There have been times when only a few stunt sequences cut out of the movie have been screened for the media. What actor-producer Vishal did on Wednesday took the media even more by surprise!
The film of the tall actor, who has produced and acted as the lead in Irumbu Thirai with Samantha opposite him, is to hit the screens on May 11. He thought up a quirky way to give a first of its kind experience to the press in India. This is said to be common in Hollywood where they would screen only the first half of the movie for the media. The idea behind showing only half the movie Irumbu Thiraion Wednesday was to whet the curiosity levels as the film stops at a crucial point at intermission time. The rest of the movie will be shown to the media only on the release day, which is Friday. The rousing response from the gathering was testimony to the fact that the Avan Ivan star’s plan has succeeded.
The movie also features Vishal’s mentor and Action King Arjun in a role with grey shades besides ‘Robo’ Shankar, Delhi Ganesh with Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring the music. A public interest litigation was filed against Irumbu Thirai contending that the film is against the ‘Digital India’ concept and also there are scenes misrepresenting Aadhar. However, the case was dismissed by the high court.
With Just two days left for IT’s release, producer Sridharan who bought the movie and PT Selvakumar alleged that the TN Distribution Association and Federation are involving in unfair means and forcing theatre owners in the state to not give any screens to their movie. While the reason behind the dispute is unclear, sources said that mediation had been on going on the whole day at TFPC to sort out the issue. At the press meet, director Mithran said he is confident of the film being released on May 11 as scheduled.
