Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is arriving on a two-day visit to India today. He will land in Ahmedabad in the afternoon. The major highlight of Shinzo Abe's tour to Ahmedabad and Gujarat capital Gandhinagar would be the stone laying ceremony for India's first bullet train project.
Shinzo Abe would be accorded a grand welcome in Ahmedabad where an 8-km-long roadshow has been planned after he lands at 3.30 PM. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would accompany his Japanese counterpart during the event.
"India truly values the relationship with Japan and we look forward to further boosting our bilateral ties in a wide range of sectors. I also look forward to visiting the Sabarmati Ashram & the 'Sidi Saiyyid Ni Jaali' with PM Shinzo abe during his India visit," PM Modi tweeted.

The twin cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are decked up to host Japanese PM Shinzo Abe.
After the roadshow, the two leaders are scheduled to visit Sabarmati Ashram and the iconic Sidi Saiyyed Mosque.
Later in the evening, PM Modi will host dinner for Shinzo abe at a hotel in old Ahmedabad area.
Ahmedabad was recently included in the World Heritage City list. The Japanese PM will be given an overview of the heritage of the city in Prime Minister Modi's home state.
On Thursday, Abe and Modi will lay the foundation stone for the high-speed train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai which is expected to be completed by 2022.
Japan has extended a soft loan for the ambitious project conceptualised by PM Narendra Modi.
The two leaders will hold the 12th Indo-Japan annual Summit meeting at Gandhinagar after which agreements will be exchanged. Later, an India-Japan business plenary meeting will be held.Fifteen agreements will be signed for investments in Gujarat during the visit of the Japanese prime minister.
hinzo Abe's wife Akie Abe will accompany him. She also will have a busy schedule on the tour.
She will be visiting a number of places including an NGO - Blind People's Association.
