The vast potentiality of the tourism sector in the state will be fully utilised and Visakhapatnam will be developed as tourism hub, said Bhuma Akhila Priya, Minister for Tourism, Cultural and Telugu language.
While addressing the media persons after assuming charge at Secretariat here on Friday she said that she is going to sign six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) concerning to tourism development, which includes agreement with four 5-star hotels viz., GTR, GKR, Minerva, Matrix, Balaji Resorts and RD Resorts. We will encourage other investors also for investing in the tourism industry, she said. Focus will also be made on event managements too, she maintained.
“The officials of tourism department have prepared some plans and I too have some ideas. We will implement them in the due course which will give boost to tourism industry in the state.
A tourism train will be operated between Vizag-Araku which will have two glass coaches where the tourists can enjoy the natural beauty of Araku valley,” she said.
Tirupati and Srisailam towns will be developed under temple tourism and facilities will be made available to the pilgrims at Ahobilam shrine, minister said.
AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) will launch an app very soon, where information of hotels, rooms, tariff, room bookings, tourism spots and other information will be available, she revealed.
Focus will be laid on development of Telugu language with the help of latest technology, she said. Measures will be taken to encourage official correspondence in Telugu, she said.
Tourism, cultural principal secretary N Srikanth, Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director M Girija Shankar, Cultural department director D Vijaya Bhaskar and others were present.
