Babu Meets Modi; No Politics, Only Development

TDP Chief and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Nadu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday in New Delhi and sought him to fulfill all the promises made to the bifurcated state. The meeting has garnered huge prominence as the duo met after a gap of over 14 months, and amidst the speculations that TDP and BJP would be parting ways.

Naidu spoke to media after his hour-long meet with the PM and said that 'politics' did not feature in their meeting as his sole focus was on the 'development' of AP. He said that he had discussed the unfulfilled promises under the AP Reorganisation Act with the PM.

Submitting a 17-page memorandum, Naidu asked Modi for funds for the development of AP, Special Package, immediate sanction of Rs. 58,000 Cr for the Polavaram project, Go ahead to increase the number of seats in the Assembly from 175 to 225 as committed in the Reorganisation Act, measures to complete the Dugarapatnam Port among other demands.

The AP CM exerted confidence that Modi would sort out all the issues, and hoped to overcome hurdles if the Centre fulfilled promises made to the state.

TDP is the second largest partner in the BJP-led NDA but Naidu has not exactly been able to have the Centre's support in his efforts to develop AP as per his vision. His last meeting with the PM was in August 2016.
