Visakhapatnam: Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy found fault with the state government handing over the illegal mining case at Guntur district to CID and said it was only to cover up the facts that the ruling TDP government had handed over the case to CID.
Taking to popular social media platform twitter, YS Jagan wrote a letter and said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to protect the culprit in the illegal mining case. He said Chandrababu was trying to portray a major scam into a small problem by handing over to investigation agency which was under his government's control. He said that the satellite imagery was pointing out that from 2014 millions of metric tonnes of minerals have been looted.
In a tweet, written in Telugu, the YSRCP Chief said, "Everyday thousands of trucks were transporting minerals from the Guntur district. Should we think no one is aware of this? If the MLAs, Chinna Babu (Lokesh) and Pedda Babu (Chadrababu) were not part of this scam, was it possible to operate illegal mining on such a large scale? None of the natural minerals were spared by the TDP government. We all are aware what the outcome would be when an inquiry is done by CID, an investigation agency which was under the control of Chandrababu?
"I would like to recall the statements made by Chandrababu after he was caught red-handed in Notes for Vote case: 'You (Telangana government) have ACB, we (AP government) have ACB; You have CID, we have CID, you have DGP we too have DGP.' So indirectly the AP CM claimed that CID was in his hands."
YS Jagan said that a fair and transparent probe from an agency which was not under the control of Chandrababu was needed and demanded that the case be handed over to CBI. Only if the case was taken over by CBI, the facts relating to illegal mining would be made public. The names of MLAs, Chinna Babu and Pedda Babu would be also made public in that case, he added.
