CM KCR will be requested for Rs 200 crore, For backward Naryanakhed

HYDERABAD: No proper roads facilities, no power connections, hardly any access to even primary medical care or education. Some of the mandals in Narayankhed division of Siddipet districts are so backward even today that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's intervention is being sought in providing all the basic amenities.

"In some of the remote places, people here have suffered neglect for the last 70 years. Special attention has to be paid to these places and people," irrigation minister T Harish Rao said.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been requested to address a public meeting at Narayankhed on October 13.

"At least Rs 200 cr will be needed to meet the basic requirements of the people. We will pay special attention to those backward areas in Narayankhed," Harish Rao told TOI. The specific needs of the remote places and the people will be explained to the chief minister.

Though minister Harish Rao represents Siddipet assembly constituency, he chose to devote attention to Narayankhed's development as he said he saw how backward some of the mandals were. "There are just not enough power substations. They were woefully adequate in number," he said. While some additional power substations were added, more are required just so that all the households in the backward region get proper power supply.

What is pathetic is that there was not a single tribal school in the backward mandals for the last several decades. Harish Rao said though a tribal welfare residential institutions was started at his behest, there is a need to provide more educational facilities to children living in the backward areas.

In February last year, a by-election to the Narayankhed assembly constituency was necessitated as the sitting Congress legislator Kishta Reddy had died. Minister Harish Rao was made in-charge of the by-poll to ensure the victory of the TRS candidate. The party's candidate M Bhupal Reddy won with a good majority.

Harish Rao who visited Narayanakhed during the campaigning for the polls said he saw for himself the backwardness of the area then and took some measures.

"A lot needs to be done. The CM's visit will for sure change the situation at the ground level for the people," Harish Rao said
