GUWAHATI: Congress has sent out a stern message to its party MLAs in Meghalaya — meet BJP president Amit Shah and face action.
The BJP is eyeing to rope in several MLAs from the grand old party in the run-up to the assembly polls next year in the state. Shah will visit Shillong on September 28 and inaugurate party’s office in the state capital during his one-day tour.
Some Congress MLAs are in touch with the BJP leaders and weighing options on joining the party.
A senior Congress leader, who did not want to be quoted, told ET, “We have taken note of the Congress MLA AL Hek’s revelation that he would attend the inauguration of the BJP office in Shillong if invited. However, strong disciplinary action will be taken against those MLAs or leaders meeting Shah."
