Chief Ministers of Telugu States have encouraged migrations into their parties expecting delimitation of Assembly constituencies to happen anytime soon. However, Union Government continues to ignore the demand of TDP & TRS Governments.
As per the provisions in AP Organization Act 2014, Assembly Constituencies in Telangana should be increased to 153 from existing 119 seats and those in Andhra Pradesh to be raised to 225 from current 175 seats. But, Centre remains firm on its stand that delimitation of Assembly segments should happen only in 2026 as per Article 170(3).
NDA Government informed Lok Sabha that delimitation of Assembly constituencies isn't possible any time soon. In response to the query raised by TRS MPs Narsaiah Goud and Prabhakar Reddy, Union Minister Hansraj Gangaram made this announcement in the Parliament.
TRS MP Vinod appealed Centre to amend Section 26 in AP Reorganisation Act 2014 to carry out delimitation of MLA segments in Telugu States. But, BJP isn't interested as increase of MLA Seats would only benefit the Ruling Party in respective states.
