OMG: Venkaiah Deletes Modi's Remarks!

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu deleted a portion of PM Narendra Modi's speech from the Records of the Upper House. When did this happen & what is the need for it?

After the election of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, Narendra Modi congratulated NDA Candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh who emerged victorious with 125 votes. At the same time, He passed few insulting remarks on the UPA Candidate BK Hariprasad who faced defeat by a slight margin.

In his congratulating speech, Modi said the election was between 'two Haris'. He gave an impression as if UPA Candidate faced defeat inspite of influencing the parliamentarians with money. BK Hariprasad & other Opposition Members found Modi's remarks disrespectful.

Following the uproar, Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu announced that objectionable comments will be removed from the records of the House. This development came as an embarrassment for BJP. Whereas, The Ruling Parties tried to cover up by saying it shows the impartiality of Venkaiah Naidu.

Of course, This isn't the first time comments made by PM were deleted in Parliament. In 2013, Few Words used by then PM Manmohan Singh and BJP MP Arun Jaitley were deleted from the records after a heated exchange.
