The yellow media is at it again!! The only difference this time is that instead of mainstream media, the digital version of the yellow brigade has pitched in a misleading campaign.
On Saturday, a Twitter handle which goes by the ID @ysbharati, had shared a pic of a YS Jagan lookalike quenching his thirst from a motor pump from which water is seen gushing forth in full flow. In the backdrop, lush green paddy crop is seen. It was innocuously captioned: This picture speaks more than anything. Many YSRCP followers mistook it to be a tweet by YS Bharathi and re-tweeted it. Then, a Telugu daily, known for its support to the TDP, put out a story saying that the verdant paddy crop and the availability of water showed that there was no drought in Rayalaseema and argued there was no need for the AP Leader of Opposition and YSRCP chief to undertake the Praja Sankalpa Yatra.
It didn’t take long for the overenthusiastic supporters of the TDP on social media and elsewhere, to find themselves at the receiving end of this prank, leaving them egg-faced. It soon turned out that the pic was not from Rayalaseeema and the person in question was not YS Jagan but someone else. YS Bharathi too issued a statement saying that she does not have any account in any social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter. She has also said that the Twitter handles in her name were fake accounts. She asserted that the Andhra Jyothi story did not have any truth in it.
Interestingly, the post was deleted from the Twitter handle and the retweets and shares too have suddenly vanished. Another failed trick, another fiasco in its account and a little more egg on the face of the Yellow Brigade!!
