10,000 phone calls tapped during TS assembly polls?

As we know, on December 7th 2018, the Telangana state Assembly elections were held, which was the first Assembly election after the state's bifurcation. During the time, reportedly the Intelligence wing has tapped for about 10,000 phone numbers and most of them belonged to police officers.

Leading Daily DC reported that, the list of all those cops who interacted with Opposition leaders was submitted to KCR and TRS leadership. The contact numbers were tapped for a long time i.e., from the time the election code to the date of voting.

TRS believed that some policemen who were not in favour of the TRS sweeping the state and winning the polls have extended their support to the Opposition. It was even speculated that a certain group of bureaucrats had already thought and discussed the posts and positions of the opposition.

Hence, TRS wanted to scrutinize the conversations of police officers, especially from IPS circles. However, a senior official confirmed that some cops did try to interact with the Congress leaders but no evidence has been found in order to take severe action. Also, he added that tapping phone conversations is pretty common during elections.
