15 families expelled from village for not voting their caste candidate in GP polls

Nearly 15 families have been expelled from Dasthurabad village in Adilabad for not supporting a candidate belonging to their caste in the recently held gram panchayat elections in Telangana.

During the elections, the caste leaders formed an association and pledged to make their caste candidate as sarpanch. On learning that a few families voted for another candidate, the association expelled the families from the village, though their candidate won the elections.

The incident came to light after the villagers approached the police on Saturday. The police called the two parties and tried to pacify them.
