Director of Inchem Laboratories Pvt Ltd was arrested by NCB

HYDERABAD: The director of Inchem Laboratories Pvt Ltd was arrested by the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) team for illegally manufacturing Ketamine. Interestingly, Venkateshwarlu and the lead character of the popular TV series American Crime Thriller 'Breaking Bad' have similar similarities. According to the NCB officials, before entering the world of narcotics production, Venkateshwarlu was a talented chemical engineer, who formulated several medicinal products. After the searches at a unit of Inchem Laboratories Pvt Ltd in Nacharam, where research & development work was being done under the supervision of Venkateshwarlu, NCB seized 477 kilos of Ketamine worth Rs 25 crore and arrested Venkateshwarlu on May 6.

On May 7th Venkateshwarlu was produced before an NCB court in Bengaluru on May 7 and granted agency his custody for interrogation. 

During further questioning, Mr. Venkateshwarlu told the NCB sleuths that after completing chemical engineering, he worked as a researcher at the prestigious Indian Institution of Chemical Technology (IICT) in Hyderabad.

After working at IICT, Venkateshwarulu worked for several pharma companies including Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. Venkateshwarulu said that wile working at the Pharma companies, he formulated several medicinal and anti-biotic products an NCB official said. 

When NCB sleuths analyzed the samples of 477 kilos of drugs seized at the factory in Nacharam with the narcotics testing kit, they got an indication that the drug was Ketamine. However during the during analysis, Venkateshwarulu claimed the seized substance was intermediate.

NCB sleuths have sent the seized samples as well as other evidence from the factory to the forensic lab for analysis. The Chemical engineer turned-narcotics producer said, "Drug peddlers lure talented professionals by offering money. 

They resort to all tricks, including threats and black mail to keep people like Venkateshwarlu in the business. Venkateshwarulu confessed that he was supplying precursors to manufacture Ketamine to Shivraj interrogator said.
