Women In South Wear Heavier Gold Chains: Criminals Tell City Cops

Article
Hyderabad was gripped by fear after 9 Chain snatching cases took place in the limits of Rachakonda police commissionerate rocking the city. The culprits behind the serial chain snatchings in the city were caught in Uttar Pradesh. The task force police have seized 30 tolas of gold from them. Police suspect the involvement of criminals from both Telangana and UP in the gang. The chain snatchers went on a rampage a fortnight ago and fell silent after that. In a short span of two days, the miscreants committed 9 snatchings and one attempted snatching.

On the first day, the duo rented a bike with registration number TS 08 EP 4005 in Malakpet, and in the span of an hour they snatched chains in Meerpet, Vanasthalipuram, Hayath Nagar, and LB Nagar.

After going to Malakpet through Nalgonda crossroads, they went missing from Chaitanyapuri. They stayed in a lodge for the night and on the second day, the duo attempted a chain snatching in Nagole. Later within a span of 40 minutes they committed four chain snatchings starting with Chaitanyapuri, Vanasthalipuram, Hayath Nagar, LB Nagar and went missing from Sagar Ring road.Police came to the conclusion that the culprits were non-locals by taking the pillion riders traveling bag into consideration. He appeared to carry it with him while he was committing the act.

Later police also caught the vehicle and confirmed that two people rented the bike in Malakpet. Police have taken Maheswar Reddy into custody, on whose name the bike was registered. Maheshwar Reddy said in the course of investigation that he had sold the bike to Mohammed Mufiyuz. Mohammed Sufiyan an aide of Mufiyuz used to let the bike out on rent. Another person was also involved in getting the bike to be rented by the duo. Police have caught the person and reached the culprits after a search operation in Uttar Pradesh.

Some interesting things came into light after interrogating the duo. When police questioned why the gangs from the north were committing such acts in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda? They replied that women in North India do not come out with gold jewelry and if they do it is seldom over a tola. But in South India, each chain they snatch weighs at least three tolas, they revealed. Secondly, in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda language is no barrier, they are supposed to have told the cops. These places are linked to the highways with many lanes, and by- lanes, making it easy to escape, they are reported to have admitted.
