11 killed in road accident in Odisha
11 persons died and 40 injured when the truck they were travelling in skidded off in hilly area in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on late Friday night.
“Victims were belonging to an opera party which was scheduled to perform at Chandahandi. But unfortunately, the driver lost control over the vehicle which fell from a height. Eleven persons were killed in the accident,” said D. K. Gamango, Inspector-In-Charge of Chandahandi Police Station, over phone on Saturday.
Injured persons were rushed to Koraput district headquarter hospital which is about 150 km from the place of accident. “The condition of five to six persons was critical. Bodies are being sent for postmortem. All deceased were male,” Mr. Gamango said, adding exact reason behind the accident was yet to be ascertained. The driver of the vehicle was admitted in hospital in critical condition.
