Five lakh acres of land is available for setting up Industries in Telangana, said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday.

Welcoming business houses and industrialists to the new State, the Chief Minister said that the government was working towards introducing never-seen-before policies for increasing investments and employment opportunities.

“We are bringing out the Industrial policy which will be one of the world’s best. At the same time we need the cooperation and support of the industry,” said Mr. Rao. He said that Hyderabad had immense potential to attract centres of excellence and the government will integrate technical and training institutes to harness the full potential of the youth.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Schulich School of Business, York University’s new campus at Shamshabad near the RGI Airport. The institution has an arrangement with the GMR School of Business and will offer two-year management courses from the current academic year.

G.M. Rao, Group Chairman, GMR Group said that the Telangana government could utilise the expertise of the business school students and programmes for improved administration. “The government can leverage the business school services in public administration. The advisory board of the school can also be contacted while deciding on public policies and strategies, and also to get funds,” said G. M. Rao.

He supported the foreign education bill as it would increase the international collaboration in the field of teaching and research. He also informed that the GMR group was committed to developing the Aerotropolis region around the airport. “We are committed to developing multiple ports around the Airport including fun ports, education ports, logistics port and hospitality port,” he said.

Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons said that the management programme of the Schulich School was very impressive.

The school’s campus is located on a 20,000 sq. ft. facility and the first batch consists of 46 students. While the first year is taught in the Hyderabad campus, the students have to spend the second year in the Toronto campus of the school.
