Hyderabad: A 19-year-old engineering student was allegedly raped by an autorickshaw driver at an isolated area on city outskirts in adjoining Ranga Reddy district on Tuesday, police said.
The offence occurred between 10.30 am and 11 am when the girl, a first year BTech student, who is known to autorickshaw driver Naresh, boarded his vehicle. The accused took her to an isolated area and allegedly raped her, Keesara police station SHO P Guruva Reddy said based on a complaint.
"The girl took lift in the auto as she had known the auto-driver Naresh for some time. After the incident, the girl along with other students lodged a complaint and based on it, a case of rape has been registered," the police officer said.
A hunt has been launched to nab the accused while the girl has been sent for medical examination, he said. Further probe is on, police added.
