Assuring Telangana State industries that there would be no power cuts this summer from May, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday said that until beginning of April, there could be minor disruptions when agriculture load is at its peak but no power cuts will be faced from May. Also, if the industries face a power cut from May, the CM asked to directly call him up on his my toll-free number.
KCR said that short term and long term plans have been outlined by the State Government to ensure that the State achieved does not face power crisis and became a power surplus State by end-2017.
Telangana has a thermal power production capacity of 4320 MW and plans to produce further 2359 MW by December 2015 together with 600 MW each from the first unit of Singareni Colleries and Kakatiya Stage II. The state is expected to get additional 13,554 MW of thermal power, including 9,488 MW from the new unit proposed by NTPC, Singareni and Genco by end of 2018.
