Land pooling rocks AP Assembly,Land pooling issue
Hyderabad: The AP Assembly witnessed acrimonious scenes on the first day of the session as YSRCP members’ demand for adjournment motion on acquiring land for the capital was rejected by Speaker K Sivaprasada Rao.
The YSRCP members trooped into the well and created ruckus. Despite repeated appeals by the Speaker they refused to go back to their seats. The main Opposition continued its protest resulting in TDP and YSRCP members levelling allegations and counter allegations.
Intervening at this juncture, Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy asked the government to clarify when it would take up the issues raised by it in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) for discussion. Responding to this, Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the government was ready to discuss all the issues.
He however said that the Opposition should follow the rules and procedures of the House instead of resorting to disrupting the proceedings. He said the leader of the opposition should know that the list of day’s business would contain the government business and if the Opposition gives any notice for short discussion or call attention and if the same was accepted by the Speaker only then it would be included in the list of business. Later as the house took up the motion of thanks to Governor’s address, Jagan levelled serious allegations against the Speaker and charged him of being biased. He said the Speaker should not have given chance to second member from TDP on the motion of thanks. He alleged that the Speaker was deliberately ignoring the YSRCP.
Pulling up the leader of Opposition, the Speaker said that it was the normal practice that the ruling party members initiates the discussion on Governor’s address and another member from the party seconds it. He told Jagan to know the rules first.
