Popular litterateur Rallabandi Kavitaprasad (55) died here on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital. He was admitted to hospital on February 24 for chest pain. As his condition deteriorated he was kept on ventilator for the past few days. Besides being a prolific writer and Avadhani, Kavitaprasad held key roles in culture and social welfare departments and secretary, Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP), of the Tirumala Tirupati Devsathanam.
Born in Nemali village in Gampalagudem mandal of Krishna district, Kavitaprasad was awarded honorary doctorate from Osmania University.
Kavitaprasad performed more than 500 ‘Avadhanams’ including satavadhanam and dvisatavadhanam. He also performed various avadhanas such as navarasavadhanam, and astadasavadhanam, etc. and introduced various new trends in avadhana vidya.
He wrote several books in Telugu like ‘Ontari Poolabutta,’ ‘Padyamandapam,’ ‘Agnihimsa’ and ‘Idi Kavi Samayam’.
