Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad has already gained notoriety for smuggling of gold from Gulf countries. Inspite of several arrests by the custom officials, it has failed to check the illegal smuggling of gold and other valuables.

It is learnt that 100 to 150 kgs of gold will be smuggled by the smugglers from Kaulalampur and other Gulf countries in the season of Dasara and Diwali festivals.Recently,many gold smuggling cases have been caught and interrogated by the customs officials and taken into custody.

About 150 kgs of the gold has been recovered by the customs officials in this year in Shamshabad Airport,officials said.
