AB de Villiers scored the second-fastest World Cup century and helped South Africa shake off a sluggish Friday start to post an imposing 408-5 against West Indies.
The South Africa captain made an unbeaten 162 off 66 balls, including his century off 52 balls as he dismantled the West Indies attack.
De Villiers combined with Rilee Roussow (61) for a 134-run stand inside 13 overs as the South Africans recovered from a slow start which saw it take nearly 15 overs to reach 50 after winning the toss and batting. The South Africans were coming off a heavy loss to India.
Chris Gayle, who scored 215 in the West Indies' win over Zimbabwe this week, returned 2-21 Friday, including the wickets of du Plessis (62) and Amla (65) within three balls.
