80 percent polling recorded in East Godavari

In total 80 per cent polling was recorded in East Godavari district in the polling conducted for general elections on Thursday, said Kartikeya Mishra district collector. Briefing media on total polling at collectorate on Friday, the collector said that out of 42,04,436 voters, 33,63,352 voters franchised their right.

The collector also said that 78.63 per cent of women voters actively participated in polling and this was due to the awareness programmes organised in the district. The collector complimented both SPs of East Godavari and Rajamahendravaram urban district for their efforts in conducting peaceful elections.

 Kartikeya Mishra also complimented the 27,000 polling staff who took part in polling. Collector said that the EVM s were kept in strong rooms located at JNTU, Rangaraya Medical college, Ideal college of engineering, District Sprits Authority and Nannaya University PG centre Kakinada with tight security deploying the para military forces.
