Story: ‘Jai Ho’ is the story of honest ex-army officer Jai Agnihotri (Salman Khan), who fights for justice and honesty. Jai, who battles corruption and injustice prevailing in the society, firmly believes that one does not have to wear a uniform to serve his or her country.
Jai, however, has to face a lot of troubles in his mission. He faces the anger of local powerful politician (Danny Denzongpa) who is miffed by his noble move. When Jai is attacked by few hooligans of the politician, his elder sister Geeta (Tabu) realizes that Jai’s spirit might land his family into severe trouble. She somehow convinces Jai to enter into a compromise with the politician.
Jai loses his control and starts a battle against the evil politician when the latter tries to target his family. This goes personal; Jai loses his cool and rises above to save his family. While everyone is wondering how Jai, a single man, will fight against the powerful politician, a miracle happens. Unknown to him, a silent revolution begins in the society. The voiceless public, he has helped in the past, is gathering force and finally has a voice which cannot be silenced.
Star Performances:
Salman Khan is not Dabangg but he is light years better synced in the role than even Dabangg. He is earnest in his role and though there was hardly any scope for him to have fun, he is deliciously indulgent.
Daisy Shah isn’t exactly in her most impressive avatar.
Tabu is sincere but has very little to do in the film. Pulkit Samrat and Mohnish Bahl were noticeable in their. And Danny was great as well.
Perhaps the only one who looks appealing in the film besides Salman is the little kid – Naman Jain, whom we last saw in Raanjhanaa and Bombay Talkies can still steal hearts.
Technical Departments:
Sohail Khan attempts to create a positive jingoism of warmth and goodness. But the director fails to fabricate the genuineness as it doesn’t emerge out the required intensity due to the over enthusiasm of its screenplay The preaching is overdone and had it not been for Salman Khan the film would have been entirely unwatchable.
The romance scenes were half baked and did not have the expected fluff. Often the film’s screenplay inflicts severe wounds on the intelligence of the audiences but when there is such unbelievable thunderous action to get mesmerized by, why waste time picking out logic lapses in the film.
If you were looking for logic, Dedh Ishqiya would have been a super-hit. Especially, in the climax scene, when an army tanker guns down people who come to kill Jai, if you manage to find logic then hats off to you!The brisk editing works fine as the film remains fast paced and doesn’t fall slack too much. The music is unbearable.
Movie Review: If you are a connoisseur of serious classic movies, ‘Jai Ho’ may not be your cup of tea as it is loaded with the special touch of Salman Khan. Though’ Jai Ho’ doesn’t have anything unique, it relates very well with the current social scenario of India.
It seems that ‘Jai Ho’ is truly Salman’s style movie loaded with some bone crunching, face smashing action sequences where director Sohail Khan has not got much scope to show his creativity or effect.
When the messiah of box office is in the movie, it is obvious that director Sohail Khan must have not put in a lot of efforts.
While Salman is superb in the action sequences, Tabu and Santosh Shukla also do their part with much aplomb. Other actors Suniel Shetty, Ashmit Patel, Yash Tonk, Bruna Abdullah and Sana Khan are equally good in their roles. After a long time, Danny has done a brilliant job as a villain.
Though there is nothing much to do for debutant Daisy Shah, her chemistry with Salman Khan looks fresh. Sajid-Wajid’s music adds charm to the movie. The song ‘Apna Kaam Banta Bhaad Mein Jaaye Jantaa’ has garnered attention. The background score by Sandeep Shirodkar is brilliant.
The Dabangg’ star’s ‘Aam Aadmi’ avatar will certainly be an icing on the cake for his well-wishers and fans.
