Story

Raghuvaran (Dhanush), a civil engineering graduate, remains unemployed for 4 Years and at the same time His Younger Brother (Hrishikesh) works in an Software Firm. His Father (Samuthirakani) often teases him playfully as he feels Raghuvaran is irresponsible. While his Mother (Saranya) is a pillar of support for Raghuvaran, His neighbour Shalini (Amala Paul) who hates him initially falls in love with him soon after she gets to know about him.

Post a tragic incident in his life, Raghuvaran gets placed in a construction company - a job he always wanted to do! What was that tragic incident and How did it change his life forever? How did he overcome all the odds to reach his goals forms the rest of the story!

Performance

Dhanush: Playing a tailor-made role, This skinny hero yet again reminds us what a fabulous actor he is in his 25th Movie. His ease of acting, expressions and dialogue delivery were remarkable.

Amala Paul: She does justice to her role playing a girl-next-door & neighbour who falls in love with Protagonist.

Saranya as Hero's Mom has played her part so well. Samuthirakani as Hero's Father is equally good. Surabhi looks pretty and makes her presence felt. Comedian Vivek produces few laughs. Hrishikesh as Hero's Brother and Amitesh as Antagonist were decent. Rest of the cast in adequate!

Technical

Background score by Anirudh is one of the major assets of the film. The simple story line is elevated with Anirudh’s thumping score and gives a huge kick to the film. Music is just about ok and so is the editing. Dialogues written for the Telugu version are decent and connect well. Screenplay is the major plus as the entire film runs on a tight grip.

Director Velraj needs to be credited for presenting a routine and normal story with some realistic and hear touching scenes. The way he has sketched different emotions right through the film is very good.

Analysis

'Raghuvaran B.Tech' is the Telugu dubbed version of Dhanush's landmark flick (25) 'Velai Illa Pattathari'. While the First Half throws a light on the life of an unemployed youth, The Latter Half banks heavily on Mother Sentiment & his success as a Civil Engineer. Love Track, Witty One-liners and Message work in favour of this movie. On the flip side, Its a bit slow paced and predictable at times.

Anirudh's songs and backgrounds score were impressive. However, Its the Telugu lyrics which were a big let down. Cinematography is pleasing. Dialogues were pretty good but gets repetitive at times. Editing could have been better in Second Half. Production Values are laudable.

Box Office: 'Raghuvaran B.Tech' has got decent chances of turning successful at the ticket window. Both 'Mukunda' and 'Chinnadana Nee osam' losing the steam will help this dubbed dubbed flick eventually. May be, It marks Dhanush's first success in Telugu is everything goes well.

Final Word

Watch it for Dhanush's stellar performance!
