Sunil and Isha Chawla starrer Mr.Pellikoduku has hit the screens today
and being Sunil’s film the audiences expect an out and out comedy
entertainer. The film is the remake of Hindi super hit Tanu weds Manu
that has Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut. Director Devi Prasad has made
enough changes to the script to suit the Telugu nativity.

Mega Super good films produced the film and SA Rajkumar composed the musical scores for Mr.Pellikoduku and Sameer Reddy is the director of photography. Ali, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Ahuthi Prasad, Ravi Babu and M.S.Narayana are played prominent roles in the movie.

Story:

Buchi Babu (Sunil) is an NRI businessman, who comes to India to marry an Indian girl. He goes to see one of the girl - Anjali (Isha Chawla) shortlisted by his parents (Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam and Tulasi). He falls in love with her at first sight, but she reveals her marriage plans with her boyfriend. He reluctantly moves on to see another girl, but his heart still yearns for her. How he manages to marry her will form the rest of the story.

Performances:

Sunil has given wonderful performance in the movie and he is the show man. He impresses you with his perfect comedy timing. He also wins your heart with some of his wonderful dance moves. But the director could have given more attention towards his makeup, which looks awkward in some scenes.

Isha Chawla is cute and has a sultry sex appeal which is hard to miss. She has shown good confidence though she doesn’t really fit into a tomboy kind of role.

Ali, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and MS Narayana will tickle your funny bones. Vincent, LB Sriram, Ahuti Prasad, Ravi Babu, Tulasi, Archana, Usha Sri and Bhavana have also done justice to their roles.

Technical Departments:

SA Rajkumar's music is the main highlight in the technical front. He has composed some of good tunes for the film Mr Pellikoduku, but their placement in the movie is not good. His background score is also commendable. The cinematography is another big strength of the film Mr Pellikoduku. Sameer Reddy has captured some of the most beautiful locales in the song sequences, which are treat to watch on screen.

The choreography of dance sequences and Kanal Kannan's action are good in parts. Nandamuri Hari's editing could have been little better.What is the big drawback of the movie Mr Pellikoduku is screenplay and Devi Prasad could have handled it more careful, while changing some sequences from the original.

Plus Points:

Sunil dances are superb
Isha Chawla looks seductive and sweet
Ali, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and MS Narayana will tickle your funny bones

Minus Points:

    Sunil make up in the movie is too bad.
    Weak direction
    Poor music and songs
    No energy in screenplay
    Amateur comedy

Analysis:

The film is the remake of the Bollywood movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ which was a big hit. However, it was clear that the remake was nowhere near the original due to its weak direction and screenplay. The first half is somewhat okay and sets an average experience. The interval bang was interesting but then the graph falls during the second half due to some silly comedy and unwanted scenes. Overall, this is a film which is rich in production values but not that good in terms of direction or offering entertainment.

Final Word: Overall, Mr Pellikoduku Comedy worked out to some extent in the first half complimented by some good dances, The second half of the movie has too much of melodrama stuff which slow down the pace of the movie.Bad Music,outdated sequences and Sunil’s odd makeup are big minus points for the movie. Isha Chawla’s glamour and some humour in the first half may not be enough to save this flick. Mr Pellikoduku is a poor remake of Tanu Weds Manu, but you can still watch and enjoy it.
