Mumbai: She might be from an illustrious Bollywood family, but just like her siblings, jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali has carved a niche for herself.  
 
In the city to launch the “Farah Khan for Tanishq” collection, the designer says her connection with Hyderabad goes back a long way. “My grandfather was a Hyderabadi, so a part of my roots are still in the city,” she explains. And Farah says that she and her sisters were never enamored by the filmi world.
 
“My parents, especially my dad, wanted us to get an education first and we never even thought of films. The one time we were taken to a film set, we were so bored by it. All that the stars did were repeat dialogue after dialogue,”.
 
Her breaking out into the jewellery industry too was a bit of surprise to others. “Everyone was intrigued because of my family, but they liked my work so they came back for more. The fact that I’ve been in this industry is proof enough.”
 
Also for Farah, family comes first and she always plans her work in such a way that she doesn’t miss out on family time. “My parents always taught us that money comes and goes, but we take our relationships to our grave. We are not obsessed by money.
 
Even when my siblings get new projects, we’re always there for each other,” she says with a smile. Talking about family, you can’t help but notice that former brother-in-law Hrithik Roshan is still part of her launches and for Farah, that’s not weird.
 
“I have known Hrithik even before Suzanne and he happened and he will always remain close to me, no matter what. Despite the divorce, Suzanne and Hrithik and the rest of us are as close as we were before, and we will be.”
