Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has left behind the King of Romance Shah Rukh Khan and Blockbuster ka baap Salman Khan in the box-office battle. His latest controversial film PK has grossed 620 crore at the worldwide box office.
According to Koimoi.com, Aamir's PK has minted Rs.324.25 crore nett in 23 days including its fourth Saturday collections, which amount to Rs.2.25 crore. The film's gross collections from India stand at Rs.467 crore, while its collections from overseas markets amount to Rs.153 crore. The Aamir-starrer has raked in Rs.620 crore at the worldwide box office.
Also trade experts are predicting that PK might end up collecting Rs.340 crore as lifetime collections at the Indian box office.
The film has surpassed the worldwide collections of "Dhoom 3" (Rs.542 crore), but it is yet to beat the overseas collections of "Dhoom 3", which stand at Rs.170 crore.
The Rajkumar Hirani directed social-satire has been in the news for more than one reason. Soon after its release on Dec 19, the movie landed in a huge controversy, courtesy its sensitive content. Several Hindu outfits including Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad slammed PK for being anti-Hindu and demanded immediate ban. Theatres showing PK were also vandalised in some cities including Delhi, while Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir khan have been slapped with FIRs and PILs.
