Soon after filmmaker Teja announced that his next film 'Hora Hori' will have an all Telangana crew, the 14,000-member strong Andhra Pradesh Film Employees Federation (APFEF) announced their decision to withdraw their cooperation to the director.
This action literally translates to an imposition of a total ban on the filmmaker.
Stating that Teja had violated the federation norms by hiring non-APFEF workers, the workers trade union dashed off a letter to all trade bodies in the Telugu film industry to inform them of their non-cooperation with Teja's latest film.
In the letter, APFEF office-bearers said none of the 14,000 cine workers belonging to the 24 crafts would ‘co-operate’ with the director.
The letters were dashed off to trade bodies like Telugu Film Producers’ Council, Film Chamber, directors' union and the writers union.
When contacted, Teja confirmed that the federation members did send out that letter and said, “I am shooting in Vizag and just got to know through my industry friends that the federation declared non-cooperation with me. However, I am determined to promote new talent and particularly hailing from Telangana. In fact, after the formation of a new state and with the existance of the Telangana Cine Workers body, AP federation has no jurisdiction to ban me in the new state. So it doesn’t affect me much. I’ll release my film in May as planned.”
