Bangalore Court has issued a ban to distributors to not protest, criticize or talk against Lingaa issue and Rajinikanth to media. The court order comes after 'Lingaa' producer Rockline Venkatesh filed a case on February 20 stating that the distributors are pressurizing his production house to pay money for their loss and also degrading superstar Rajinikanth's name in public.
Following his plea, the court has ordered the distributors to restarin themselves from talking to media about demanding compensation or about Rajinikanth.
The film released on Rajinikanth's birthday on December 12, 2014. Marina Pixtures managing director R Singaravadivelan, in his petition, said he had purchased Lingaa for screening in Trichy and Thanjavur districts, for a sum of 8 crore. He said the film was a failure and it did not gross enough box office collections. The Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council (TFPC) had earlier strongly condemned the decision of the distributors of Lingaa to go on a mass begging protest and hold superstar Rajinikanth accountable for the film's losses.
Directed by KS Ravi Kumar, Lingaa had released on Rajinikanth's birthday last year December 12. It also featured Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty in important roles.
