On the occasion of his film journey completing 50 years as a hero, Superstar Krishna revealed some fascinating happenings. Following his suggestions would surely help Tollywood's big producers survive and help Telugu Industry flourish green.
The senior Superstar revealed that Mahesh has cut down his remuneration for "Srimanthudu", to bring the down the film's production cost to nearly 40-45 crores. "1 and Aagadu have taught a lesson to Mahesh. Budgets of those films soared to 70 crores, and their drastic results at box office did more harm. That's why he took Srimanthudu under his control to ensure that budget wont cross 40+ crores", said Krishna, indicating that a star hero's film should be completed in 40 crores, in order for producer and distributors to see profits, or at least not lose money.
Apart from Mahesh, it is Cherry and Junior who have the privilege of producers investing on them heavily and now Bunny joined them. Pawan Kalyan is also there, but he isn't acting in many flicks in a year anyway. Nevertheless Charan and NTR have learnt the drawbacks of overshot budget by example already, it will be tough. Both Govindudu Andarivadele and Temper have nearly 45 crores invested on them, but collected a crore or two lesser through 'shares' from box office. Producers might have swam to shores through satellite rights and all, but distributors have suffered losses. If these heroes could restrict their film's budget to 40 cr like Mahesh, then a flop wouldn't matter much.
Overshot budget will always pushes the hero's career into risk, because new producers will fear to invest on him and that also reduces the number of star-films being made. It's a cycle where everyone gets affected for every single producer falling down due to flops.
