Venu Ravichandran of Aascar films has won the Pongal race. Vikram's I directed by Shankar will be the solo release for 2015 Pongal, as all other Tamil movies including Ajith-Gautham Menon's Yennai Arindhaal backed out.

Thala Ajith, Anushka, Trisha, Arun Vijay starred Yennai Arindhaal produced by AM Ratnam is reported to be releasing on January 29th due to lack of theaters and delay in post-production works.

Karthi's Komban is facing visibility issues, hence makers opted out of Pongal race, says sources close to the unit. At the same time, Dhanush is planning to release Siva Karthikeyan's Kakki Sattai only after his Anegan.
