However, the collections of ‘Lion’ are below the expected mark.
NBK’s Lion is one of the most awaited and hyped films of 2015. Trade analysts and distributors predicted that this movie would break all the records of ‘Legend’ at the global box office. But, it failed to live up to the expectations.
Lion collected Rs 11.5 Crore at the end of its first weekend all over AP/Telangana and it grossed Rs 2.5 Crore on its 5th day. The makers are yet to reveal its official figures. Distributors say that the low collections are due to the weak and mixed reviews.
Trade analyst Trinath said “You would expect it to make even more from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone but since the film opened to very unsatisfactory word-of-mouth, the numbers dropped from the second day. A big test lies for the movie at the ticket window this week”.
According to the reliable sources, Lion movie collected around Rs 18 Crore at the worldwide box office in its first weekend. Lion movie opened up with huge collections all over the Telugu states where Balakrishna’s craze is unbeatable.
