Story:

He has an issue with the DGP Krishna Prasad (sai kumar) and in that process, he takes the side of the notorious politician GK (ashutosh rana). An incident happens which leads to Kalyan realizing his folly and he decides to change. But what it his issue with the DGP and how things change forms the rest of the plot.

Performances:

Kalyan Ram: Kalyan Ram is in his elements in this film. His lean physique suited the character of powerful cop. He has excelled in the confrontation scenes with Asutosh Rana and also tried his hand at comedy whenever needed. This film will surely end his drought of successes and takes him closer to Nandamuri fans.

Shruti Sodhi: She is just okay in her role as a Reporter and exudes glamour in the songs.

Sai Kumar as DGP is first rate. Roles played by MS Narayana, Srinivas Reddy, Jayaprakash Reddy, 30-years Prithvi, Shakalaka Shankar and Posani are entertaining. Ashutosh Rana as antagonist is effective. Rest of the cast played their parts to perfection.

Plus Points:

Kalyan Ram
Interval block and action scenes
Story
Comedy Track
Dance moves
Arey O Samba remix
Direction

Minus Points:

Climax
Predictable story
Cliched story (especially second half)

Technical Departments:

Music is a huge asset as all the songs are pretty good, and have also been shot quite lavishly. Sai Karthik’s background score is superb and elevates all the confrontation scenes to another level. Camerawork is good and showcases the thrills well. Dialogues are perfect and suit the mood of the film.

Director Anil Ravipudi walks away with the cake in Patas. It is his racy narration that works superbly for the film. Right from the word go, he has made sure that there is enough fun and showcases Kalyan Ram in a powerful role. Screenplay is crisp and does not leave much scope for any lags.

Analysis:

Though the film didn’t have a great story filled with twists, it is the way the whole thing was packaged which works in totality. The first half is filled with elements of action, some romance and good dose of comedy. The interval bang was effective and the second half has its share of entertainment plus serious moments. Overall, there is good energy in the movie and it fits the bill of a commercial entertainer. At the box office, this would appeal to the masses and entertainment seekers in a good way so profits are very likely.

Final Word: Overall Pataas is Guaranteed Entertainment! Best film in Kalyan Ram’s career…till Date.
