Tamil Hero's Answer To Baahubali

21st June, 2015 3:42pm     Kollywood      Comments
Many film lovers always consider Tamil films superior to Telugu flicks because of their strong content. That's the reason films like Ghajini, 7th Sense and Pizza have ran well at Telugu box office too. And now, with typical epic and folklore based movies like Magadheera creating records, even Tamil stars are also looking at that angle to prove their merit. At the time when whole of India is talking about movies like Baahubali and Rudramadevi, here comes Ilayathapalathy Vijay's "Puli".

As usual the film has a theme of a super-powered queen (Sridevi) betrayed by her own commander (Sudeep) and saved by a commoner (Vijay). In the mean time this commoner romances another common lady (Shruti Haasan) but also a princess (Hansika) falls flat for him. This is what we could read from the trailer. How simple the story maybe, its presentation that matters. After looking at gigantic visuals shown by Baahubali, Vijay's Puli is seemingly less convincing. Maybe it's little closer to the quality offered by Rudramadevi, but the very look of hero as a warrior isn't that effective.

Except for those costumes, costly sets and minimal visual effects, there's no look of a warrior on Vijay's body language. When people like Prabhas, Rana and Ram Charan are pumping iron to get carved body for that warrior look how can Vijay's simple demeanor match it ? Also Vijay's hair-style; it looks like he has traveled to past with 2015s hairdo. No, this is not Kollywood's answer to Baahubali. It's nowhere close. Not this time at least.
