Kamal Haasan's Papanasam which released on July 3rd is still going strong in most of the theatres Tamil Nadu has, by collecting well at the box office despite a tough competition from Baahubali.
In its second week(6th July to 12th) the Kamal Haasan starrer has collected Rs3.15 crore from Chennai alone taking the overall gross to Rs4.5 crore in the capital city. According to trade sources, the official remake of Drishyam saw good occupancy throughout its second week even in the most remote places of Tamil Nadu.
When it comes to suburban cities, Papanasam has collected Rs 7.02 crore from its first 10 days. Its performance in its third week, which starts from today, will go a long way in determining its total box office collections as the movie will face two more competitors in Maari and Vaalu, starting July 17th.
In Australia, the movie had collected A$67,933 from its opening weekend and went on to amass A$28,920 in the next three days (July 6th to 8th). The collections in Australia now stands at A$96,853 which can be converted into Rs 45.52 lakh, from its first 6 days.

With a steady income of 84.85 lakh from 246 shows in its second weekend, Papanasam is doing well despite the Baahubali storm.
Future Tense For Papanasam?
Considering this week's releases and the way Baahubali is performing in Chennai, Papanasam may have a tough time, come next week. It has to be seen how the Kamal starrer holds up in the following week.
Baahubali
In the second weekend of July, Baahubali took the first position at the Chennai box office by collecting Rs 1.66 crore from 363 shows.
