Hindi cinema is on an experiment mode of late. Be it PK or Sultan or Dangal or Fan or Raees, stars are opting for out-of-the-box roles. Now taking this to new level, superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to play a dwarf in his next. It's said that SRK has already signed the film and it will be directed by Anand L. Rai who shot to fame with films such as Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa.

Confirming the news, director Anand said that SRK will be seen in a height-challenged role in his next. Even before comparisons are drawn with Kamal Haasan-Singeetam Srinivasa Rao's yesteryear classic Appu Raja (Hindi) - Vichithra Sodarulu (Telugu) and Apoorva Sagodharargal (Tamil), Anand jumps in and says that the dwarf played by Shah Rukh in his film would be very different from the one Kamal played in Appu Raja.

Anand reasons, "When Kamal Haasan played the dwarf in Appu Raja, he had only his acting skills to rely on. Today, there is a lot of technical advancement that gives more scope for innovation, experimentation."
