2-year-old girl kidnapped from High court complex

Kidnappings and extortions have become order of the day to settle family and debt issues. A two-year-old girl, Mounika was allegedly kidnapped by a man at the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday. She was playing at her father’s tea stall when she was abducted by a man who took her away in an auto. Mournika's abduction was caught in the surveillance camera installed at the court premises.

Police is examining the footage and have narrowed down on a suspect. Three special teams have been formed to rescue the child and nab the kidnapper. According to the latest reports based on cell tower location and signals, the police has traced the accused Hanumanth Rao’s house to Guntur district in AP. Sources said the child was rescued and the accused has been arrested.

Police said Mounika’s father Vishnu, 34, stays at Puranapul with his wife Parvathi and their three kids. Mounika is the youngest. He has a stall near gate number 6 of the court. On Wednesday morning, Vishnu took Mounika to the stall where she was playing. Mounika, who was last seen playing at the tea stall in the afternoon, went missing. Her father searched for her and later approached the Charminar police and lodged a complaint. The police booked a kidnap case.

A senior police official from Charminar division said the man approached the stall while the child was playing and walked away with her. After inquiring with locals and other stall owners, it was found that the suspect is Hanumanth Rao, a petitioner from Guntur.

“He often comes to the court and was identified by the locals. Three special teams were formed to trace the kid and nab the accused. While one was sent to Guntur district, one team each is searching in Ranga Reddy district and Hyderabad,” the official said Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the kidnap, It could be either land deals, bad debts or  revenge, they suspect.
